Pre-Concert Talks

Julia Darby.jpg

Join us for our pre-concert talks with Julia Darby.

Julia Darby took an interest in music early in life, after picking up the cello at the age of 6. Her love for chamber music began to develop not long after, when she started making music at home with her three sisters. Growing up, she was an active part of Edmonton’s music community, performing with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra and Kamara Quartet.

She continued to explore her passion for music in her post-secondary studies, now holding a Bachelor of Music degree (specializing in Music History) from the University of Alberta and a Master of Arts degree in Musicology from the University of Toronto, with research focusing on music in fiction literature and gender representation in contemporary string quartet performance. Today, Julia is an active freelance cellist, cello teacher, and administrator in Edmonton’s arts and heritage sector.
