Emerging Artists
SACMS is excited to be able to offer performance and scholarship opportunities to young local emerging artists. Each concert begins with a performance by an accomplished student musician from the St. Albert area. This gives up-and-coming performers valuable performing experience. Student performers receive an honorarium to encourage them to further their studies in music.

Yihao Zhang, piano

Yihao is 14 years old. He began studying piano at the age of six and is currently a student of David Tutt at the Winspear Centre Conservatory of Music. Most notably, he won the 43rd (2024–25) Northern Alberta Concerto Competition, earning the opportunity to perform with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra.
Yihao has also been a national finalist in both the Canadian Music Competition and the RCM Music Lights the Way Festival. In addition, he has been a frequent scholarship recipient and prize winner at the Edmonton Music and Speech Arts Festival, and has participated in both the Alberta Provincial Music Festival and the Canada West Performing Arts Festival.
Outside of music, Yihao enjoys playing badminton and basketball, as well as biking around his neighborhood.

Xiaoyu & Xiaoyue Huang, piano
Xiaoyue Huang is an 11-year-old Grade 6 student from Edmonton who began studying piano at age six. She has participated in provincial and local music festivals and numerous competitions, earning first-place awards, gold and silver medals, and a Chamber Music Scholarship. She has also performed in multicultural showcases and charity concerts.
Xiaoyue is an active member of several AIYAA youth project teams. Each year, she participates in community events and serves as a junior music assistant, helping children in need gain greater access to music and the arts. She expresses herself and connects with others through piano, visual art, traditional dance, and stage performance. Xiaoyue has also received award in dance competition. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, traveling, crafting, and reading.

Xiaoyu Huang is a 15-year-old Grade 10 student from Edmonton who began studying piano at age five. She has participated in provincial and local music festivals and numerous piano competitions, earning multiple first-place awards, medals, and scholarships, including a Chamber Music Scholarship. She has also performed in many charity concerts.
Xiaoyu is a dedicated youth volunteer and one of AIYAA’s Youth Team Leaders. Each year, she contributes significant time to community events, charitable initiatives, and school programs, demonstrating kindness, patience, compassion, and strong leadership. Beyond music and volunteering, Xiaoyu is an award-winning dancer, is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, and enjoys swimming, traveling, and reading.
