Emerging Artists
SACMS is excited to be able to offer performance and scholarship opportunities to young local emerging artists. Each concert begins with a performance by an accomplished student musician from the St. Albert area. This gives up-and-coming performers valuable performing experience. Student performers receive an honorarium to encourage them to further their studies in music.

Yihao Zhang, piano

Yihao is 14 years old. He began studying piano at the age of six and is currently a student of David Tutt at the Winspear Centre Conservatory of Music. Most notably, he won the 43rd (2024–25) Northern Alberta Concerto Competition, earning the opportunity to perform with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra.
Yihao has also been a national finalist in both the Canadian Music Competition and the RCM Music Lights the Way Festival. In addition, he has been a frequent scholarship recipient and prize winner at the Edmonton Music and Speech Arts Festival, and has participated in both the Alberta Provincial Music Festival and the Canada West Performing Arts Festival.
Outside of music, Yihao enjoys playing badminton and basketball, as well as biking around his neighborhood.
